What is a great place to fish in October around Los Angeles?
My dad is visiting me in October and he’s a fresh water fisherman. Since he’s from a landlocked country last year I took him deep sea and I almost died from getting seasick, so this time I want to stay around rivers, lakes, ponds. He’s used to catching mammoth sizes so something puny will not be exciting at all, he’s up for a challenge. The only problem is that I am a girly girl and don’t have the slightest idea where to take him or where to start!
Please recommend some good fishing grounds around LA area, I’m willing to drive 1hr or so if it means good fishing. What’s in season around October? bass, trout, catfish?? see told ya I have no clue…
Please forward any fishing websites too. thanks!
Piers are out of the question, its just too yucky… I did hear that Arrowhead or Castaic were OK but not that much fish tho…
From the information you provided I would look at Big Bear Lake, especially in the fall. I have had some great trips at that time of year trolling for Trout. You won’t get mammoth sizes, but I have been surprised at times with some good quality fish.
If you want to rent a boat for the day I would recommend Holloway’s on the south shore. Good equipment, nice people, and good advice if needed.
Hope this helps
