I am wondering what bait to use on certain types of fish?

I have decided to take up fishing, I am living in Ireland and I plan to fish off coasts, river banks and in lakes.

I know a lot about it from researching but it is vague. I was wondering what is the best lures for the following fish?

pike
bass
mackeral
Rainbow trout

Hello I’m from NJ (US) bass: worm (live and/or plastic) crankbaits at an depth, topwater lures’ Rainbow Trout: I don’t know how it is in Ireland but we cant not use corn here (US) use corn, in line spinner bait , worm also use more live one then plastic for trout, Pike and mackerel I’m not sure what to use i would pretty much say use lure from what i saw on TV and that mainly plastic worm for boat

Yes you can It’s Big Jack’s fave place to fish for salmon. The best spots are in Co. Mayo. Look up Irish tourist board and fisheries. Possibly called Failte Ireland.

Update, didn’t fully read your question, you want to spin fish for them, most bait lakes will probably allow you to spin fish, but call them first to save a wasted trip as some are bait only and some are fly only.

Fly Fishing Scotlands Wilderness

I am heading to Door County for vacation. What is the best method of fishing at Lake Michigan off dock or boat?
I have fished there before and just used a bobber and worm. I caught a lot of small mouth bass off the dock. However, I would like to try and catch something a little bigger. Any one have a suggestion.

I would recommend buying some minnows in your area and get the bait to the bottom using split shot weight. Use a size 8 hook the hook the minnow through the back or lips and you might catch a large bass, trout, or salmon depending on the weather, time of year, and water depth.
